The purpose of Forest Lake Camp and Conference Center is to help individuals to come to know the Lord on a personal basis and to help them to grow in Christian maturity.

Forest Lake Camp and Conference Center has been in it’s current location since 1951. And though Forest Lake can trace its actual camping program history back to 1890, camps had been held at several different sites. But on October 1, 1951 the Iowa Baptist Convention (now the Mid-American Baptist Churches) made the initial purchase of the current land. Building then began in 1953, by volunteers from throughout the region, and the camping program began in the summer of 1954.

In  63 years of operation, we have experienced several changes: changes in facilities, changes in staff, and changes in programming. But one thing has never changed: our passion and commitment to changing the world for Jesus Christ, one person at a time. From when the first tree was cut down, our focus has been to be a place to “Experience God in the Wilderness.”
It is our desire, and our calling, to love God and to love others by using this beautiful facility located in the hills of southern Iowa, just south of Ottumwa.  We are owned by the Mid-American Baptist Churches. We are operated by a Ministry Team comprised of great people, passionate about the business and ministry of Forest Lake Camp.

Our current staff is eager to serve and to accommodate in any way that we can. Give us a call and plan your next event with us at Forest Lake Camp.
