Associate Regional Minister

Rev. Gary Martin serves part-time as Associate Regional Minister for Mid-American Baptist Churches
(MABC). He serves as staff representative to the Dayton Oaks Ministry Team, the Mission &Stewardship
Team and the Region Youth Ministry Team.
Prior to serving MABC, Gary pastored bi-vocationally the First Baptist Church of Lindsborg, Kansas
for 15 years. During his serving in Lindsborg, the congregation built a new worship center, moved from
its 125 year location and retired the mortgage. Gary also fulfilled two terms on the board and Executive
committee of the Central Region, serving as Region Board President 2012-2013.
Educational experiences include: Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management, 2011; Master of
Divinity, 1998; Bachelor of Science in Human Services, 1995; Associate of Technology in Antique Auto
Restoration, 1984.
Gary started his antique auto small business, Goldfield Trim & Upholstery, in 1986. He specializes in
restoring interiors and tops on antique and collectible vehicles. Particular focus is on century cars,
vehicles that are 100 years or older. Several vehicles trimmed by Gary have been recognized at the
national level by various clubs. Three different vehicles featuring customized interiors have made
magazine covers. Gary served as Assistant Professor of Technology at McPherson College for two years,
leading the advanced restoration courses and serving as the auto restoration program chair for one
year. He is a Senior Master judge for the Antique Automobile Club of America.
Gary is married to the Rev. Brenda Stalbaum Martin. They live in unincorporated Polk County, near
Des Moines.
